A Multi-Phase Compressible-Incompressible Particle Method for Water Slamming
نویسندگان
چکیده
The paper presents a novel compressible-incompressible multi-phase projection-based particle method for prediction of water slamming pressures. The considered particle method is an extended version of an enhanced multi-phase MPS method. The proposed method solves an integrated form of Poisson Pressure Equations (PPE) for the liquid phase and the gas phase. To further enhance the accuracy, a modified version of the previously developed ECS scheme is devised for the gas phase through a meticulous calculation of minimum and maximum theoretical base values for activation of the ECS scheme and thus imposing an allowable range of density variations for the compressible phase. Verifications are conducted by means of a 2D liquid impact and impacts of rigid pates on flat water surfaces.

Investigating the Third Order Solitary Wave Generation Accuracy using Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics
This paper examines the generation and propagation of a Third order solitary water wave along the channel. First the Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (ISPH) numerical method is described and the boundary condition handling method is presented. The numerical model is then used to simulate solitary wave propagation along the fixed depth channel. The numerical results are compared wi...
متن کاملEvaluation of two lattice Boltzmann methods for fluid flow simulation in a stirred tank
In the present study, commonly used weakly compressible lattice Boltzmann method and Guo incompressible lattice Boltzmann method have been used to simulate fluid flow in a stirred tank. For this purpose a 3D Parallel code has been developed in the framework of the lattice Boltzmann method. This program has been used for simulation of flow at different geometries such as 2D channel fluid flow an...
متن کاملComparison of DNS of compressible and incompressible turbulent droplet-laden heated channel flow with phase transition
Direct numerical simulation is used to assess the importance of compressibility in turbulent channel flow of a mixture of air and water vapor with dispersed water droplets. The dispersed phase is allowed to undergo phase transition, which leads to heat and mass transfer between the phases. We compare simulation results obtained with an incompressible formulation with those obtained for compress...
متن کاملA theoretical model on coupled fluid-structure impact buckling
A model simulating a coupledjuid-structure impact buckling phenomenon is constructed in this paper. Based on the experiment’,’ the model is designed as an impact system in which a small imperfection elastoplastic column is attached by its upper end to a large mass and by its lower end to aflatplate; it then perpendicularly impacts a viscous water free surface from a certain drop height or in a ...
متن کاملNumerical investigation of free surface flood wave and solitary wave using incompressible SPH method
Simulation of free surface flow and sudden wave profile are recognized as the most challenging problem in computational hydraulics. Several Eulerian/Lagrangian approaches and models can be implemented for simulating such phenomena in which the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) is categorized as a proper candidate. The incompressible SPH (ISPH) method hires a precise incompressible hy...
